During an archaeological expedition in Africa, Barbara came across the high priest, Chuma, performing a ritual to turn a woman into the tribe’s cheetah god. When the ritual was interrupted by an attack, Minerva killed her teammate and drank his blood as a sacrifice to have the ritual performed on her instead. S was turned into Cheetah and slaughtered the army of invaders. Since Barbara was not a virgin, however, she was cursed with the need to sustain herself by eating flesh.
