In his youth, Scott Summers suffered from severe headaches until optic beams erupted from his eyes. Many people believed Scott was trying to kill them with his mutant power. Scott was taken in by Professor X, and he learned to control his power at the School for Gifted Youngsters. With his mutant power under his control, Scott took on the persona of Cyclops, a hero that fought for equality between humans and mutants.
