In 1969, thousands of people flocked to Max Yasgur’s dairy farm for the legendary Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The festival has become widely regarded as a pivotal moment in popular music history as well as a defining event for the counterculture generation. Thirty-two acts performed, including the Grateful Dead, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Crocker, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Jimi Hendrix.
