The band’s biggest hit came when they released “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”, a song about a disappointed Devil who is way behind on stealing souls, and he comes upon a young man named Johnny who is playing a fiddle. Out of desperation, the Devil, who claims to also be a fiddle player, wagers a fiddle of gold against Johnny’s soul to see who is the better fiddler. Johnny proves that he’s “the best that’s ever been”.
