In the original arcade version of Centipede, a player is a small insect-like head at the bottom of the screen called the Bug Blaster. In the Atari 2600 version, a player takes the role of a garden gnome armed with a magic wand and has to defend his mushroom forest from the invasion of giant centipedes, spiders, fleas, and scorpions.
