Weapon X was a code name for a secret U.S. Government project intended to deliberately induce superpowers for military purposes. When Wolverine was a victim of the project, he had much of his memory erased and an Adamantium skeleton grafted onto his own. Wolverine was approached by Professor X and was offered a position on the team of mutants known as the X-Men. Wolverine went on to become one of the most fearless and popular superheroes of all time.
